Spring Break 2009

For Spring Break, we rented a house with a heated pool across the street from the Beach in Destin with our good friends the Puttys. They have 6 kids and their 2 girls each brought friends, so we ended up with 17 of us in this amazing house with different levels and places to escape! Not to mention the other Spring Breakers that we knew that showed up at any given time!

We had so much fun with everyone! Between the 2 couples, we easily prepared Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snacks for 5 days at the house...we ate, laid out, and played ~ the PERFECT Vacation!!! The weather was perfect (a bit chilly at first, but we got over that real fast!) Shane & Kelly were great to go with since they are so laid back...and the girl knows how to fill up a cart at Wal-Mart like no other, let me tell ya...and that's talent when you're buying for 17 people+! I've never loved Wal-Mart so much in my life!!!

William & Nathan were playing a game with Kenny where they would try and find him in the dark with their flashlights, and he would keep jumping out and scaring them. I don't know why they loved it, but they did!

When the double RED flags are on the beach, that means Don't even think of going near the water. Sooo...the boys got in it and surfed for an hour.

Here is the dude blowing the whistle at our guys telling them that several people have died in the spot they were surfing in, and they should probably get out. You think? The boys had a blast. Of course.




On the way home, the drama starts! One of the sweet girls that was riding with us threw up in a bag, and the other girls were screaming...eeeewwwww :), and as we pulled over, I took the bag from her, got out of the car, only to see Kelly P getting out of her car with a bottle of pee - so...
I had a bag of vomit, and she had a bottle of pee! hahaha....
Then
halfway through Alabama, our car was sputtering, and we were able to get off an exit, pull into a gas station and realized that our alternator had died. Dead.
Tired Teenagers, Restless Boys, 5 hours to go. Dead.
It made me laugh and cry at the same time (yes, it actually is possible!)
We crammed everybody into the Putty's cars, and me, Ken, and Alec stayed behind to get our car fixed. As the Puttys drove away, Nathan's window was open and the last thing we heard was Nathan looking out the window, arms outstretched, shoulders shrugged and said, "Kenny, What the Heck?"...it was a theme.

It turned out to be a blessing because we stopped in B'ham for an overnight stay and enjoyed Easter with Ken's brother and sister-in-law, Kevin & Shannon!!!
